For over 50 years, Sir Gordon has worked to improve the lives of millions through his pioneering research, leadership of major organisations, and advice to government on sustainable development. I am delighted that my hard work and dedication has received such a high level of recognition and I am most grateful to my lecturers at the University of Southampton who have inspired and supported me throughout my studies.
