Publisher Whether publisher is well-known or the work is published by a university press, an indication the work has academic merit. Unlike abstracts, that are descriptive summaries, annotations are descriptive and critical; they reveal the author’s point of view, clarity and appropriateness of expression, and authority.

Note whether your topic is extensively or marginally covered. A complete citation for a single-authored book includes author, title, publication information and year.

What are its underlying assumptions? Scan the table of contents and the index to get an overview of the material it covers. Does this text use – or is it influenced by – a particular theory?
Coverage Note whether the work updates other sources. They tend to take the following format: Journal Article Look at the table of contents of the journal. Date of Publication Publication date on the title page biliography on its reverse or copyright date; last update on web pages.
A Bibliographic Citation is the written description of a text, book, journal article, essay, report, web page or some other material that has been quoted or used as an authority.
